I have a life outside of films: Kareena Kapoor

Bollywood Cinemaa: She comes from a film family and is married into another one but actress Kareena Kapoor says she endeavours to have a life outside the world of showbiz.
The 32-year-old actress, who tied the knot with actor Saif Ali Khan in October last year, says she has friends outside Bollywood and she tries to keep her personal life separate from her work.

"The key is to realise that we are here to work in this industry. I`m not over-friendly with anyone, I don`t get into anyone`s personal space because I don`t want people to get into mine. I have a life outside of films," Kareena said.

Having faced huge media curiosity surrounding her marriage to Saif, Kareena says she prefers her work to make more news than her personal life.

"Some of my friends are from the industry but most of them are not. So that is a part of life that I cherish. I go to work and come back. I want to keep it like that - go to work, come home and let my work talk more than anything else," she says.

Post marriage the actress has been super busy shooting for brand endorsements while Saif has been shooting for `Bullet Raja`.

"Saif has been shooting for `Bullet Raja` and I have shot for `Dabangg 2` song and promoted `Talaash`. I have also shot for eight brands since the wedding. We actors sign up brands then we forget that we have to give them four days each to shoot. I have been shooting every day. Work is my passion and Saif respects that," says Kareena.

Kareena, who did `Dabangg 2` item number `Fevicol Se` for "good friend" Salman Khan, says she shares a warm relationship with the actor since the days her elder sister Karisma used to work with him.

"Salman and Karisma go back 12-16 years, they started with movies like `Nishchay` (1992) and I used to be on the sets. I was 8 or 9 years old then. He has that kind of love for me, as Karisma`s younger sister. He was friendly during `Bodyguard` and he respects the kind of person that I am. You can see the warmth between us and that`s what I love."

Salman`s father, veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan had specially called Kareena to praise her performance as Rosie in her latest release `Talaash`.

"When a living legend like Salim saab, who has written such great films and characters, calls you, it`s something else. In my decade long career, no one has given me the compliment that he has for `Talaash`.

"He never called me after `Jab We Met`. He said I have been studying your work, I think you are one of the best that we have, so please continue doing such roles. That`s a great compliment."

Ending the year with an Aamir-Khan starrer film, Kareena is set to begin 2013 with his nephew Imran Khan as well as Prakash Jha`s `Satyagraha`.

"I ended the year with Aamir, I`m going to start the year with Imran. Life`s always a full circle, I`ve got to work with both. In January I start shooting for a film with Imran Khan and then I have `Satyagraha` with Ajay Devgn. We start shooting for that on February 1."

Salman Khan exempted from appearance in hit-and-run case

Salman Khan could not have wished for a better birthday gift on Thursday, when a Mumbai magistrate court exempted him from personal appearance till January 30 next, in a matter of alleged submission of false evidence by the police in the 2002 hit-and-run case involving the Bollywood actor. One person was killed and four others were injured in the incident.Counsel Dipesh Mehta pointed out that the Bombay High Court had, in its June 10, 2005 order, exempted Mr. Khan from appearing personally in the case, considering the facts and circumstances placed before it. Moreover, the police would have to deploy additional personnel to manage crowds gathering at the court as Mr. Khan is a popular actor, said Mr. Mehta.
The court of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bandra, had issued a summons to Mr. Khan on an application filed by social worker Santosh Daundkar, alleging that submission of false evidence by the police in the trial against the actor delayed the case by 4-5 years.
The former IAS officer, Abha Singh, who is appearing for Mr. Daundkar, argued that “this case is about submitting false evidence and hence it is totally different than the one which is pending in the High Court.”
The magistrate court, however, granted exemption to Mr. Khan, and also ordered the police to file their reply in two days.
Earlier, Mr. Mehta submitted a reply to the charges made by Mr. Daundkar. He said: “The applicant has no proof and/or evidence to show that the trial got delayed for four years because of the accused. Therefore, the application is liable to be dismissed with costs.”
