Akshay Kumar relives his Khiladi legacy

Akshay's Khiladi connection began way back in 1992 when he starred in Abbas Mustan'sKhiladi.
As a college boy, who gets into trouble when a notorious bet turns into a murder, making him the prime suspect of the crime, Akshay's performance in the action packed flick was much applauded.
With Ayesha Julka and Deepak Tijori as co-stars, Akshay’s film proved to be a box-office hit. It kick started the Khiladi series for Akshay.
In 1994, Akshay gave the box office yet another roll with another instalment of Khiladi with Saif Ali Khan and Shilpa Shetty as his co-stars. The film, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, saw Akshay playing a tough cop. His style and charisma set the cash registers ringing.
Akshay-Shilpa's sizzling chemistry set the number charts ablaze. Their song - Chura Ke Dil Mera Goriya Chali - went on to become one of the most popular numbers of Akshay's career.
Then it was a time for a hat trick as Akshay truly proved to be the Sabse Bada Khiladi. The film delivered by Akshay in 1995 became one of the most successful instalments of the Khiladi series.
Playing a dual character of a simple and sweet man and a rough and tough cop, Akshay impressed his fans with his antics starring alongside Mamta Kulkarni. The film had some uber hot spicy numbers.
Then came Akshay’s Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, an action thriller with some hardcore wrestling, starring world renowned wrestlers like Undertaker and Crush.
The film released in 1996 starred the legendary Rekha in the role of the conniving and evil Maya. Ex-lovers Akshay and Raveena Tandon played on-screen lovers in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi.
The film release had many things going for it. And as expected, it proved to be a smashing success at the box office.
Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi showcased the perfect mix of oomph and action, a combination that had always worked for Khiladi Kumar.
Giving a break to all the action and adventures, Akshay put his comic side on display in his 1997 release Mr And Mrs Khiladi.
Romancing Juhi Chawla, Mr And Mrs Khiladi was the only full-fledged comedy in Akshay’s Khiladi series.
Though Akshay’s comic timing and tangy one-liners garnered appreciation, the film performed moderately at the box-office.
In 1999, Akshay returned with yet another average Khiladi film,International Khiladi. Essaying the role of an underworld don, the film was loaded with action and drama, but was unable to impress the movie buffs.
After his next Khiladi film - Khiladi 420 - released in 2000, Akshay took a break from the Khiladi series as it was not that successful.
While the big screen had to wait for 12 long years to see Akshay put on his Khiladi shoes, small screen was in for a big bonanza in 2008.
Internationally acclaimed, reality game show Fear Factor came to India and there was no better celebrity host for the Indian version - Khatron Ke Khiladi -than Akshay.
The show with its Khiladi essence made sure the couch potatoes were in for some non-stop entertainment.
While the TV screens were a total treat, the taste of the dessert lay in Akshay's last and final release,Khiladi 786.
