Actor Aamir Khan has said that he supported the concept of anti-corruption and was not votary of any individual or political party. Khan was in Jalandhar on Saturday for the promotion of his forthcoming film supported Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, said, “I am not pro any individual or party. I support the concept of anti-corruption, not individuals or parties. I favour a stringent law against corruption. My stance is clear. I won’t campaign for any political party in near future. I have no plans of joining politics.”
Condemning the arrest of the two girls in Maharashtra for their comments on Facebook, Khan said, “Curbing the freedom of speech is not new, it’s been there for ages. But with technology advancements it is going to get difficult to curb the expression of speech since there are various media through which people can express themselves. Democracy is about freedom and not curtailment. Individuals, filmmakers, everybody should be allowed to express themselves through any medium freely.”He said he was happy to hear that action was being taken against the police officials responsible for the incident.
The actor said that through Satyamev Jayate he had tried to address the issue of 25,000 women in Punjab who had been abandoned by their NRI spouses. He said there were many such issues that were of great national concern and needed to be addressed.
The actor said his team had already begun research for ‘Satyamev Jayate-2’ and were looking for more social issues that had to be bought to light.
Khan said his marketing team had tried to get in touch with the search engine giant Google to replace the search button with the word ‘Talaash’ on their homepage for a short time, but Google refused to do this as it was against their policy.
One of his team members said the actor would have dinner at an undisclosed dhaba in the city.
